SUMMARY:Intensive Workshop and Certification Training
DESCRIPTION:PLAY Project Two-Day Intensive Workshop\nRichard Solomon\, MD\, founder of The PLAY Project\, believes every young child with autism should have access to life-changing early intervention\, by empowering their parents or caregivers. The PLAY Project strives to create a world where all children with autism receive early intervention services and parents choose the best treatment options for their child. \nThis professional development opportunity will provide you with an overview of the PLAY Project methods and principles along with case studies to gain immediate skills in helping children with autism. The workshop consists of case studies\, video analysis of parent and child interaction\, and group activities that develop your skills in play-based\, developmental and behavioral techniques for engaging children with autism and other developmental delays. \n\n\n\n\nRegistration and Pricing\n\n\n\nWho will benefit:\nOur intensive workshop will be of interest to child development professionals including mental health professionals\, occupational therapists\, speech-language pathologists\, social workers\, family and pediatric nurse practitioners\, clinical psychologists\, and child psychiatrists. Our workshop is also open to administrators and policy makers involved with autism services and parents of children with autism. This workshop can serve as a first step in pursuing the Certified PLAY Project Consultant credential. \nPrerequisites:  \nThere are no prerequisites to take this course. This is a beginning level course. \nAfter this workshop clinicians will be able to:\n– Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the PLAY Project\, PLAY Autism Intervention\, 7 circles of PLAY and can begin helping children with autism and their caregivers immediately!\n– Implement methods that help children with autism to (1) increase their social interaction and (2) develop a joyous relationship with their caregivers and other adults!\n– Identify techniques that help improve language\, social skills\, behavior\, development\, and play skills of children with autism!\n– Describe how a child’s unique profile is created and develop a plan to improve the child’s social interaction based on the profile!\n– and much\, much more! \nContinued Education: \nCEUs have been requested pending approval through: \n– American Speech-Language- Hearing Association\n– American Occupational Therapy Association \nContinuing Education credit for this program is awarded by Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) for the following professions: \nPsychologists: Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer continuing education credit programs. Commonwealth Educational Seminars maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Psychologists receive 12.0 hours of continuing education credit upon completing this program. \nLicensed Professional Counselors/Licensed Mental Health Counselors: Commonwealth Educational Seminars (CES) is entitled to award continuing education credit for Licensed Professional Counselors/Licensed Mental Health Counselors. Participants will take a quiz to show what they have learned.\n-Participants work in small groups to practice developing a child profile\, after watching a case study video. Participants leave the training with handouts that they can use to further practice these skills with children and families.\n*Learning outcomes will be assessed through a PLAY Project self-evaluation quiz \nContinued Education: \nCEUs have been approved through: \n-American Speech-Language- Hearing Association \n-The Illinois Early Intervention Training Program has approved this event for 9 hours of EI credential credit in the area of Intervention.
