Welcome to The PLAY Project
This workshop provides an overview of the PLAY Project’s parent-implemented model of autism intervention, including the principles, methods, and techniques for engaging young children with autism spectrum disorder. A summary of the latest autism research, including prevalence and treatment options, will be presented.
This workshop highlights the 6 Functional Developmental Levels of the DIR (Developmental, Individualized, Relationship-based) framework of Dr. Stanley Greenspan – also known as “Floortime.” Attendees will learn the 7 Circles of The PLAY Project’s parent-training program. Additionally, video examples will be featured to demonstrate PLAY in action. No prior knowledge is needed to attend.
Learning objectives
Participants will be able to:
– List the principles and methods of The PLAY Project
– Describe the evidence supporting The PLAY Project and other developmental early interventions
– Gain a basic understanding of Greenspan’s 6 Functional Developmental Levels (FDL)
– Generate a basic child profile based on Neurological Comfort Zone, Sensory Motor Profile, and FDL
– Understand the importance of a child’s affect/feeling life
– Explain how The PLAY Project provides family members with support and resources to enhance their child’s learning and development
– Integrate basic PLAY Project techniques into every day experiences and interactions with infants and toddlers
