SUMMARY:The PLAY Project's Autism Intensive Workshop and Certification Training
DESCRIPTION:The PLAY Project’s Two-Day Autism Intensive Workshop\nRichard Solomon\, MD\, founder of The PLAY Project\, believes every young child with autism should have access to life-changing early intervention\, by empowering their parents or caregivers.  The PLAY Project strives to create a world where all children with autism receive early intervention services and parents choose the best treatment options for their child. \nThis professional development opportunity will provide you with an overview of the PLAY Project methods and principles along with case studies to gain immediate skills in helping children with autism. The workshop consists of case studies\, video analysis of parent and child interaction\, and group activities that develop your skills in play-based\, developmental and behavioral techniques for engaging children with autism and other developmental delays. \n\n\n\n\nRegistration and Pricing\n\n\n\nWho will benefit: \nOur intensive workshop will be of interest to administrators and policy makers involved with autism services\, parents of children with autism\, and providers who serve these children. This workshop can serve as a first step in pursuing the Certified PLAY Project and Teaching PLAY Consultant credential.  \nLearning Objectives and Outcomes: \nLearners will learn evidence based strategies\, through case study videos and discussion\, that promote engagement\, which facilitate learning and therapeutic interventions. \n-Explain the 7 Circles of PLAY and how they relate to the PLAY Autism Intervention Program when working with children with ASD\n-Define intensive autism intervention\, including interventions that are categorized as play-based\, developmental\, and behavioral\n-Identify techniques that help improve language\, social skills\, behavior\, development\, and play skills of children with autism\n-Describe Greenspan’s 6 Functional Developmental Levels (FDLs) and how they relate to The PLAY Project Autism Intervention\n-Identify the behaviors and symptoms of children who have sensory processing challenges\n-Describe how a child’s unique profile is created and develop a plan to improve the child’s social interactions based on this profile\n-Identify developmental progress and PLAY Project methods & techniques through the review of video case studies\n-Participants watch evidence based strategies\, through case study videos\, that promote engagement. Participants will take a quiz to show what they have learned.\n-Participants work in small groups to practice developing a child profile\, after watching a case study video. Participants leave the training with handouts that they can use to further practice these skills with children and families.\n*Learning outcomes will be assessed through a PLAY Project self-evaluation quiz \nContinued Education: \nCEUs are offered pending approval through: \n\n1.2 ASHA CEUs\n1.2 AOTA CEUs/Contact Hours\n\n \n  \n  \n*Category 1: Domain of OT\, Category 3: Professional Issues \nCertificates of attendance for the Two-Day Intensive workshop will be issued to all participants at the completion of the course. \nPrerequisites: \nThere are no prerequisites for this course. The PLAY Project can cancel an event up to two weeks before the start date. In this situation all registrants will be notified via email and refunded their money to their original form of payment. \nThe Eventbrite fee cannot be returned to buyer when a refund request is processed. The Eventbrite fee consists of the payment processing fee and the service fee combined. \nThe Eventbrite fee can be returned to buyers in cases where PLAY cancels the event or the buyer unintentionally purchased duplicate tickets and requests a refund within 7 days of purchase. \nSpecial Needs Policy: \nThe PLAY Project will accommodate reasonable requests.
