Participants will learn how to transform negative behaviors into good behaviors by using developmental approaches to solve behavior challenges. \nTeaching PLAY: Lessons From The Classroom\nSession led by: Diana Holderman \nDescription: Teaching PLAY is a play-based\, relationship-based approach to engaging children with autism in the preschool and kindergarten classroom. Join us to learn how this innovative approach can effectively and meaningfully integrate children on the autism spectrum into the classroom’s daily activities. Participants will learn through discussion of in-depth video case studies. \nPLAY Project in the Clinic Setting\nSession led by: Onna Solomon\, LMSW\, Lead Trainer and Certified PLAY Project Consultant \nDescription: This session will use a longitudinal case study to discuss the successes and challenges of adapting the PLAY Project to a clinic-based setting by a private practice mental health provider. Participants will learn about the logistics of maintaining fidelity\, billing insurance\, collecting video\, and writing reports\, while also discussing the clinical aspects of assessment\, parent support\, and engagement of the child. \nHigher Functional Developmental Levels: Case Studies\nSession led by: Monica Lott \nDescription: Join an in-depth discussion of language development\, symbolic play\, and emotional thinking through video case studies of Functional Developmental Levels 5 and 6. This session will address such topics as: the nuances between simple and complex pretend play; how pretend leads to empathy; how meaningful symbolic communication develops; and the evolution of emotional thinking. \nGoing Deeper With The Sensory Motor Profile\nSession led by: Kirsten Brown \nDescription: Gain deeper insight into the many aspects of a child’s sensory motor profile and learn practical strategies for addressing sensory challenges. How to explain the importance of the sensory motor profile to parents and video clips of how to use a child’s sensory preferences to teach them to have fun with people \nPLAY Project Reunion Retreat Details\nCalling all PLAY Project Consultants!!
