Public Webinar| Autism: The 7 Habits of Successful Kindergarteners

In this webinar, based on over 25 years’ experience in working with children on the spectrum, their families, and dozens of school systems, Dr. Rick describes what it takes for autistic children to be successful as they start elementary school. He will discuss whether or not to delay kindergarten, how to promote each of the 7 habits of successful kindergarteners, whether or not to tell the other students that a child has autism, and how to work with the schools to make the autistic child’s academic experience the best it can be.

After the webinar participants will:
– Describe the functional developmental capacities for successful school participation, in general education or special education settings, and how to promote these capacities.
– List several ways to collaborate with schools, through the ‘IEP process’, to promote the autistic child’s best academic experience.
– Describe how to help the child with autism be as socially and emotionally successful as possible in the school setting.
– List each of the 7 Habits of Successful Kindergarteners and how children on the spectrum can be supported to achieve these habits.
– Describe the basic types of ADHD medications that can help school children with attentional issues.
