Two-Day Virtual Intensive Workshop with Kirsten Brown

Learn about our host, Kirsten

Kirsten Brown is a licensed Occupational therapist with over 25 years experience working with children and families.  She is the owner of First Achievements, PLLC in Hebron Kentucky and provides home-based early intervention and office-based OT services. She has presented workshops for early intervention providers, therapists, and parents on the topic of addressing the social-emotional, sensory, and behavior challenges in early intervention.  Kirsten co-authored the PLAY Project Tele-PLAY manual with Dr. Rick Solomon.  She is one of the facilitators of the six week online PLAY Project Certification Training Program. She was the 2018 recipient of the Mitch Katschor Leadership Award for the PLAY Project and a recipient of the 2018 Kentucky Governor’s Award for her work with families.

Who will benefit:

Our intensive workshop will be of interest to administrators and policy makers involved with autism services, parents of children with autism, and providers who serve these children.This workshop can serve as a first step in pursuing the Certified PLAY Project Consultant credential.

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Explain the 7 Circles of PLAY and how they relate to the PLAY Autism Intervention Program when working with children with ASD
  • Define intensive autism intervention, including interventions that are categorized as play-based, developmental, and behavioral
  • Identify techniques that help improve language, social skills, behavior, development, and play skills of children with autism
  • Describe Greenspan’s 6 Functional Developmental Levels (FDLs) and how they relate to The PLAY Project Autism Intervention
  • Identify the behaviors and symptoms of children who have sensory processing challenges
  • Describe how a child’s unique profile is created and develop a plan to improve the child’s social interactions based on this profile
  • Identify developmental progress and PLAY Project methods and techniques through the review of video case studies

Please note this is an event offered by The Childhood League Center and their Continuing Education Units (CEUs) may differ from what is offered directly from The PLAY Project.
