The PLAY Intensive Workshop Online (PLAY IWO) is a professionally designed course that is fun, engaging, and practical.

 

Learn to effectively and playfully engage young children with autism by taking The PLAY Intensive Workshop Online, a professionally designed course that is fun, engaging, and practical. The IWO has approximately 10 hours of content to be completed asynchronously and has two live sessions to answer your questions in person. Instead of having to attend two full days of training, missing work, and/or planning for childcare, learners can take the course when it is convenient for them over a three-week time span! This workshop can serve as a first step in pursuing the Certified PLAY Project and Teaching PLAY Consultant credential.

Certificates of attendance for the PLAY IWO will be issued to participants who complete all post course requirements, including a survey and post-test.

About the workshop:

The PLAY Project is a parent implemented, intensive intervention program for young children (18 months-6 years) with autism that is evidence-based. Get an overview of The PLAY Project methods and principles to gain skills in helping children with autism! The workshop consists of case studies, video analysis of parent and child interaction, interactive activities, and live sessions that answer your questions about engaging children with autism and other developmental delays through play.

Learning Objectives – After this workshop participants will be able to:
– Explain the 7 Circles of PLAY and how they relate to the PLAY Autism Intervention Program when working with children with ASD
– Define intensive autism intervention, including interventions that are categorized as play-based, developmental, and behavioral
– Identify techniques that help improve language, social skills, behavior, development, and play skills of children with autism
– Describe Greenspan’s 6 Functional Developmental Levels (FDLs) and how they relate to The PLAY Project Autism Intervention
– Identify the behaviors and symptoms of children who have sensory processing challenges
– Describe how a child’s unique profile is created and develop a plan to improve the child’s social interactions based on this profile
– Identify developmental progress and PLAY Project methods & techniques through the review of video case studies

Participants watch evidence based strategies, through case study videos, that promote engagement. Participants will take a post-test to show what they have learned.
Participants practice developing a child profile, after watching a case study video. Participants receive digital handouts that they can use to further practice these skills with children and families.
*Learning outcomes will be assessed through a PLAY Project self-evaluation post-test

Course completion requirements:
– Completion of the online course
– Participation in case study analysis
– Participation in online forum and live sessions
– Evaluation of course and self quiz/post-test

Who will benefit:
Early intervention and/or child development professionals (SLP, OT, M.Ed., MSW), behavioral health providers, parents of children with autism, administrators and policy makers involved with autism services

Approximately 10 hours

Cancellation policy: We are unable to offer a refund if a trainee cancels less than a week before the event start date but another registrant could be substituted in their place. The PLAY Project can cancel an event up to 2 weeks before the start date. In this situation all registrants will be notified via email and refunded their money to their original form of payment.

Special Needs Policy: The PLAY Project will accommodate reasonable requests if possible. Accommodations can be requested via emailing events@playproject.org.

Courses are supported on Windows, Mac and Linux only. Mobile devices such as phones or iPads are not supported.
